About Once Upon a Needle
Joel Hoy - Joel's Bears, Peggy Fleming - The Pleasant Ridge Collection, and Terri Larson - Plum Street are long-time friends and fiber artists who periodically challenge each other to make one of a kind pieces with the same theme such as candy containers or a patriotic theme.
In September, Once Upon a Needle presents a special gallery show to benefit the Nebraska Strollathon for the International Rett Syndrome Foundation. Terri's daughter, Emma, was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome at age 4 after a long regression which took from her the ability to feed herself, speak and perform the most basic self care skills. This year Emma is participating in a clinical trial at Boston Children's Hospital. This trial and others are funded in part by donations raised through The International Rett Syndrome Foundation. Every dollar will help find possible therapies and a cure. Doctors and Scientists are so close to finding a cure and it can't come soon enough for Emma and her Rett Sisters!
Terri and her husband, Dave, are regional representatives of IRSF and are busy preparing for the Nebraska Strollathon on September 21. Joel and Peggy will travel to Grand Island, NE on that day to participate in the Strollathon. All proceeds from this show will go toward Once Upon a Needle's fundraising goal.
